Lanny Frattare
Lanny Frattare was born and raised in Rochester, NY and received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Ithaca College. For two years, he was the play by play announcer for the Charleston (WV) Charlies baseball team and the play-by-play announcer for the Rochester (NY) Americans hockey team.
In 1976, Lanny became a member of the Pittsburgh Pirates announcing team and was the Voice of the team for 33 years. He called more than 5,000 Pirates games, more than anyone else.
For the past 14 years, Lanny has been a professor of communication at Waynesburg University. Each year, as an experienced philanthropist, Lanny hosts a charity golf classic at Chartiers Country Club for Family Links. This year will be its 37th anniversary. The tournament has raised over 4 million dollars.
Lanny is a father of two. David and his wife Ann Marie have two children, Spencer and Carly. They live Brunswick, Ohio. Lanny’s daughter Megan, who lives in Mount Lebanon, has one son, Gus.
